PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE SEMINARS (PPS)

The Professional Practice Seminar (PPS) a mandatory professional development requirement for members of the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC).

What is PPS?

PPS is a course that helps ensure members stay current with the Canadian Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (CUSPAP), professional ethics, and legal responsibilities.
It's focused on case studies, real-world scenarios, and interpretation of standards and ethics.

How often do members complete PPS?

Members are required to complete the PPS every two years as part of their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements.

Who needs to complete the PPS?

All designated members (e.g., CRA, AACI) and candidates must complete the seminar to remain in good standing.

What formats are available?

It’s offered online or in-person, depending on what's available at the time.

What is happening in 2025?

The 2024/25 cycle for PPS ended on December 31, 2024.
Only new candidates and reinstating members will need to take the PPS. It is only available online during the 2025 calendar year. Please see the options below.

UBC Sauder School of Business

The English version of the 2024-2025 Professional Practice Seminar (2024 PPS) launched on Thursday, February 01, 2024 on the University of British Columbia (UBC) learning platform.

The 2024-2025 PPS consists of 4 Video-recorded interactive Modules: Changes to CUSPAP, Insurance, Complaint Resolution and AIC Regulations. At the end of each module, the participant will complete a 10 multiple choice question quiz.

The registration fee is $345 plus tax.

Université Laval

L'Institut canadien des évaluateurs (ICAE), la Faculté des sciences de l'administration de l'Université Laval (FSA ULaval) et le Carré des affaires FSA ULaval-Banque Nationale sont heureux d'annoncer que le Séminaire de pratique professionnelle (SPP) 2024-2025, disponible en français, sera offert à compter du 1er février 2024 sur la plateforme web de l'Université Laval.

Le PPS est obligatoire pour tous les membres de l'AIC, dans le cadre de chacun des cycles de développement professionnel continu (DPC) de deux ans. Le séminaire comprend quatre modules vidéo interactifs sur les sujets suivants : les modifications des normes NUPPEC en 2024, l'assurance, le règlement des plaintes et les politiques et règlements de l'AIC. Chaque module est évalué par un questionnaire de 10 questions à choix multiples. Pour obtenir des crédits de DPC, le participant doit obtenir une note minimale de 60 % à chaque questionnaire.

Les frais d'inscription sont de 345 $ plus taxes.

The Appraisal Institute of Canada’s (AIC) Introduction to Professional Practice (ITPP) course is a requirement for those individuals interested in becoming a Candidate Member of Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC). The course is a requirement for both the CRA and AACI designations.

The course is designed and presented by designated AIC members and is delivered through UBC’s distance learning platform. Students may begin the course at any time and proceed at their own pace, providing they complete the course within one year of registration.

The registration fee is $345 plus tax.
